Mascot for the Revolution
As a kid we’d go to visit my grandparents where there was a reenactment of a Revolutionary War battle. Each year I recognized friend’s fathers dressed up serious that day as patriots. They don’t do the reenactment anymore, or the Veteran’s or Labor Day parades. I revived the event, and invaded the town as an icon that mixed the images of invaders past and present, merging Redcoats, whalers and tassle-loafered captains of industry. The police made me stop because I didn’t have a parade permit.
